About the line

Commuter train line 48 is the network's southwestern branch and serves six stations between Södertälje centrum and Gnesta: Södertälje centrum, Södertälje hamn, Södertälje syd, Järna, Mölnbo and Gnesta. The final Järna–Gnesta section follows the Western Main Line, opened on 1 October 1861, while Södertälje hamn offers connections toward Stockholm City. Commuter service was extended to Gnesta in September 1995, and the route changed from line 37 to line 48 on 10 December 2017. The other stations are in Stockholm County, but Gnesta lies in Södermanland County; its present brick station building, designed by Folke Zettervall and completed in 1907, has been a listed monument since 1986.
