About the line

Line 19 is one of three services on the Green line, Stockholm's oldest Metro line, whose first section between Slussen and Hökarängen opened on 1 October 1950. It runs through 35 stations from Hässelby strand in the west to Hagsätra in the south, passing central hubs such as T-Centralen, Slussen and Gullmarsplan. Gullmarsplan is the last shared station before the southern branches split toward Skarpnäck, Farsta strand and Hagsätra. In the west, line 19 passes Vällingby, Sweden's first ABC town, opened in 1954 around Sven Markelius's vision of work, housing and a centre; Casimir Djuric added square concrete trees to the platforms in 1983. Like the rest of the network, the route forms part of the art programme that has made Stockholm Metro known as the world's longest art exhibition.
