About the station and area
Ängbyplan is an above-ground station that was inaugurated as a subway station on October 26, 1952 in connection with the opening of the Hötorget–Vällingby subway line; until 1962 it bore the name Färjestadsvägen. The station is located in Södra Ängby in Bromma in western Stockholm, a residential area from the 1930s that is considered one of the country's foremost examples of functionalist architecture and is classified as national interest for the conservation of the cultural environment. In 1994, the station's walls in the stairwell and lift hall were covered with ceramics by the artist Åsa Lindström.
