No rail service changes in the December 2026 timetable consultation

On 26 February 2026 Region Stockholm’s transport administration sent out a gross list of proposed traffic changes for next year’s timetable for consultation. According to SL, some larger changes are proposed in bus traffic, while no changes at all are made within rail traffic, which includes the metro. Consultation bodies had until 26 May 2026 to respond, and the new timetable is decided during the autumn. Proposals – not yet decided changes.

Slussen’s northern metro entrance at Ryssgården closed

The temporary northern entrance at Ryssgården closed on 3 August while the City of Stockholm demolishes the building and renovates Ryssgården’s deck. Use the middle entrance at Katarinavägen or the southern entrance at Götgatan. A new permanent northern entrance is being built beneath Ryssgården.

More C30 trains in ordinary service on the blue line

The new C30 trains now run to the ordinary timetable on the blue line, where they had previously only been test-run. The first C30 ran in ordinary service on weekday evenings on 31 August 2026, and from 7 September the trains also run in rush hour and at certain weekend times – two trains in rush hour and on weekend mornings and evenings respectively. The C30 has room for more passengers, better accessibility adaptations and air conditioning. According to Region Stockholm the plan is to put more C30 trains on the blue line during 2027, once the Rissne depot is expected to reach full capacity from next summer. As the C30 cars enter service the older C20 cars are phased out on the blue line.

Consultation on Roslagsbanan to the city – new stations at Odenplan and T-Centralen

Region Stockholm plans to extend Roslagsbanan through a new tunnel from Universitetet station via Odenplan to T-Centralen. The consultation on the railway plan and environmental review opened on 15 September 2026, and comments must reach Region Stockholm by 12 October. The two new stations are not planned to get their own street-level entrances, but to be integrated with the existing stations at Odenplan and T-Centralen. One stated reason is that most people arriving at Östra station today change to the metro, and that red line trains towards T-Centralen are already very crowded in rush hour. Open-house sessions are held at Gustav Vasa skola by Odenplan on 22 September and 6 October, 16.00–19.00. Proposals – not yet decided changes.

New escalators finished at T-Centralen

The escalators between the Sergels torg ticket hall and the green line platform towards Hässelby strand and the red line platform towards Fruängen and Norsborg have been replaced. Work ran from early March and finished on 3 July. The new escalators have scraper gratings and other features for better reliability and a longer service life.

Half price on the 30-day ticket until year end

SL’s 30-day ticket costs 530 kronor (normally 1,060) and 325 kronor at the reduced rate from 1 July to 31 December 2026. SL+Arlanda, UL/SL and Waxholmsbolaget period tickets are also discounted, and already-purchased annual and 90-day tickets can be partially refunded.

Fire-gas partitions finished at nine metro stations

Fire-gas partitions that limit the spread of fire and smoke between platforms and evacuation routes have passed functional testing at Rissne, Västra skogen, Rinkeby, Duvbo, Huvudsta, Skarpnäck, Hjulsta, Universitetet and Mörby centrum. At Kungsträdgården the work started on 22 June; according to Region Stockholm the partition would be all but finished when the station reopened.
