About the station and area
Rådmansgatan opened on 26 October 1952 and is approximately 8 meters below street level at Sveavägen in Vasastan on Norrmalm. The station was built using the so-called cut and cover method, where the street was dug up and covered with a concrete roof - unlike the subway's deep blasted underground stations, this is a shallow station. The platform has yellow tiled walls and was designed by the architect Gunnar Lené. At the southern entrance there are enamel paintings by Sture Valentin Nilsson from 1983 on the theme of August Strindberg, a tribute that connects to the nearby Strindberg Museum in the Blue Tower at Drottninggatan 85, where the author lived in his last years (1908–1912) until his death.
