About the station and area
Svedmyra opened as a subway station on September 9, 1951, when the former Örbybanan tramway was converted into a subway on the Gullmarsplan–Stureby stretch. The station is served by the green line (line 19) and has an outdoor platform. Despite the name, it is located in the Stureby district in Söderort, between Sockenplan and Stureby. The artistic decoration is connected to the area's trees and greenery: in 1991, Torgny Larsson created a 40-metre-long glass screen with deciduous leaves and a sculpture on the platform, and in the same year Barbro Johansson covered an elevator wall with ceramics. In 2012, the station was completed with a mosaic fund wall in the ticket hall, also by Torgny Larsson.
