About the station and area
Johannelund opened on 1 November 1956 and is located in the district of Vinsta in Västerort, west of Bergslagsvägen between Vällingby and Hässelby farm. The station was built as a so-called industrial station with two side platforms instead of the central platform common in Stockholm, which makes it the only one of its kind in the subway network. Until October 1997, the station was only open during peak hours and completely closed at weekends, and it is still one of the least used on the network. It lacks artistic decoration and today serves, among other things, the former Johannelund industrial area, now Vinsta business park.
