About the station and area
Vällingby opened provisionally on October 26, 1952 and was put into permanent use on April 6, 1954, at the same time as the district was built up as Sweden's first ABC city in Västerort, where the subway was a key part of the plan. The station is above ground but has been partially built under Vällingby's center, which gives it an increasingly underground character. It has two platforms and three tracks, with a turning track between the platforms. On the platforms stands Casimir Djuric's artwork from 1983, square urban concrete trees, as part of the decoration in Stockholm's subway.
