About the station and area
Kristineberg is one of the few stations in Stockholm's inner city that is not underground, but on an elevated track along Drottningholmsvägen at the eastern end of Tranebergsbron. The station opened on 26 October 1952 as part of the route between Hötorget and Vällingby and serves the district of Kristineberg on Kungsholmen. On the platform since 1991 has been the sculpture group "Travelling with animals" by Carina Wallert, executed in bronze and colored concrete, which represents a traveler – a portrait of Virginia Woolf – with a cheetah lying diagonally behind.
