About the station and area
Thorildsplan was put into use on 26 October 1952 and is one of the few stations in Stockholm's inner city with an open-air platform, built at street level in the middle of Drottningholmsvägen in the Kristineberg district of Kungsholmen. In contrast to the inner city's blasted rock room, it is thus an outdoor station. The artistic decoration includes Huck Hultgren's sun relief from 1975 and Lars Arrhenius' pixelated tile work from 2008, where clouds and mushrooms in 8-bit aesthetics allude to classic computer games.
