About the station and area
The station is cut deep into the rock below Kungsholmen, with raw rock walls that have been left visible and given a rose-red tone instead of traditional tile cladding. The artist Sigvard Olsson has designed the entire room as an excavation of Kungsholmen's history, with humorous details such as a root vegetable store, baskets and a 17th-century-inspired portal. The ramp leads up to Stockholm City Hall, which gave the station its name.
