About the line

Line 45 is not currently in service; the designation is reserved for a possible future commuter train route between Uppsala C and Nynäshamn. It would link Uppsala in the north with Nynäshamn in the south through Citybanan, the roughly six-kilometre central Stockholm rail tunnel opened on 10 July 2017. The tunnel contains the underground Stockholm City station beneath T-Centralen and Stockholm Odenplan, where David Svensson's 2017 light work "Life Line" covers about 350 square metres in warm-white LEDs. Commuter service to Uppsala via Arlanda Airport began on 9 December 2012, while the southern section would follow Nynäsbanan through Västerhaninge to Nynäshamn.
