About the station and area
Farsta Strand opened on August 29, 1971 as an extension to the south of the Green Line and is the network's southernmost station as well as the terminus of line 18. The station is located 10.4 kilometers from Slussen, next to Lake Magelungen. The platform used to be outdoors in a deep shaft and is now built over. The artistic decoration consists of mosaics on the floor and walls by Fredrik Jacobsson from 1993 and pictures and woodcuts with the name "Farsta's history" by Kristina Anshelm from 1997. About 200 meters away is the commuter train station of the same name, opened in 1901 under the name Södertörns villastad and renamed Farsta strand in 1989.
