About the station and area
Akalla was inaugurated on 5 June 1977 as the northern terminus of the blue line and is the metro's northernmost station. The station is spread out in the rock about 20 meters below the ground and is kept in an ochre-yellow color. Here hang six ceramic pictures in stoneware that Birgit Ståhl-Nyberg made in 1975–1977, with motifs around everyday life, work and ideals of women and men. The station serves the district of Akalla in Västerort, near Kista, and in the future will receive an extension of the blue line towards Barkarby.
