About the station and area
Björkhagen is an above-ground station that was opened in 1958 in connection with the expansion towards Bagarmossen, about 4.8 kilometers from Slussen. On the platform and in the ticket hall there is art by Lenka Jonesson, unveiled in 1991, whose motif is connected to the station's name. Here also begins the first stage of the Sörmlandsleden, which goes east past Sigurd Lewerentz's brick church St. Mark's Church and further into the Nacka outdoor area. St. Mark's Church was built in 1958–1963 and was awarded the first Kasper Salin Prize in 1962.
