About the station and area
Kärrtorp is an above-ground station that opened in 1958. The station is located between Björkhagen and Bagarmossen, about 5.5 kilometers from Slussen, and serves the Kärrtorp district in Söderort. The area was the first that Svenska Bostäder built under its own auspices, with construction starting in 1948, and is characterized by long continuous narrow houses in three floors grouped around mainly car-free yards. The station's artistic decoration consists of Björn Olsén's work Light boxes with secret signs, which were unveiled in 1994.
