About the station and area
Fittja opened on October 1, 1972 and is an outdoor station at ground level at the center of Fittja. At the station stands a copy of Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd's sculpture The Knotted Revolver - a bronze piece with a knotted barrel, originally added in memory of John Lennon - which was inaugurated in 2002, the same year as Eva Rosengren's light sculptures in opal-coloured plastic at the entrance to the Fittja centre. The station serves Fittja in Botkyrka municipality, an area that during the first years of the 1970s was expanded with mainly apartment buildings under the million program, and is close to the Mångkulturellet center at Fittja gård and the lake Albysjön.
