About the station and area
Fruängen was inaugurated on 5 April 1964 as the terminus of the red line (line 14). The station is 46.8 meters above sea level and is thus the highest located in the entire subway network. Unlike the underground stations that the red line is known for, Fruängen is above ground, with an entrance in Fruängen's center next to the shopping center and the bus terminal. The station is adorned by Fredrik Landergren's glass mosaics from 2005: a large face mosaic above the stairs in the ticket hall and seven mosaic images of human heads along a wall at the bus terminal, all embedded in a checkered tile background.
