About the station and area
Hallunda opened on 12 January 1975 in connection with the expansion of the red line towards Norsborg and, unlike the inner city underground stations, is above ground, with an outdoor platform between Hallundavägen and Skarpbrunnavägen. The station's artistic decoration consists of Plexiglas rods and a neon loop by Kazuko Tamura from 1993, located adjacent to the ticket hall. The station serves the residential area of Eriksberg in the municipality of Hallunda-Norsborg in Botkyrka, about 20 kilometers from Slussen; the center of Hallunda is reached via footbridge. Nearby is the privately owned 18th-century manor Hallunda gård next to Hallundaröset, Södermanland's second largest known burial mound from the Bronze Age.
