About the station and area
Hökarängen was commissioned on 1 October 1950 as the terminus of the first subway line from Slussen and is located above ground along Lingvägen, approximately 7.7 kilometers from Slussen. The station was designed by architect Peter Celsing, while in 1995 Hanns Karlewski added the station's art: two bronze sculptures, a composition in the platform floor and a series of two-tone lacquered plates. The station serves the suburb of Hökarängen in Söderort, a planned post-war district whose center with David Helldén's car-free pedestrian street became the first of its kind in Sweden.
