About the station and area
Midsommarkransen opened on 5 April 1964 in connection with the inauguration of the red line, and the station is located in a rock room about 17 meters below ground. On the ceiling hangs a wooden midsummer wreath that was made in 1979 by residents of Midsommarkransen under the guidance of three art students. On the platform there is also the work "Blommor till Midsommarkransen" by Lisbet Lindholm from 1990 and a painted wooden relief by Dag Wallin. The station serves the district Midsommarkransen, whose city-like quarters began to be built at the beginning of the 20th century (the first apartment buildings were built in 1908 according to a city plan from 1907).
