About the station and area
Ropsten was inaugurated on 2 September 1967 as the terminus in the northeast and is today the terminus of the red line subway line 13 from Norsborg. Unlike the subway's underground stations, Ropsten is located outdoors on a viaduct over Ropstensplan, built in an elevated position ahead of a planned extension towards Lidingö. Artistically, the station is distinguished by Roland Kempe's painting, including a winding snake with arrow-shaped heads along the 125-metre-long corridor towards Hjorthagen, as well as Matts Jungstedt's forged gate at the exit. At the station there is also the end stop for the Lidingö Line and buses to Lidingö, and the area around Ropsten is being developed as part of Norra Djurgårdsstaden.
