About the station and area
Vårberg was inaugurated on 2 December 1967 and, unlike the inner-city underground stations, is located outdoors at ground level, integrated into the same building complex as the Vårberg centre. The facility was designed by the architect Hack Kampmann (1913–2005) in a distinctly modernist style of international stature and is green-labeled by the City Museum in Stockholm, which means that the building is considered particularly valuable from a historical, cultural, environmental or artistic point of view. The station features an artistic mosaic decoration by Maria Ängquist Klyvare from 1996, with paintings depicting the hands of men, women and children.
