About the station and area
Vårby gård opened on 1 October 1972 in connection with the subway extension from Vårberg towards Fittja. It is an above-ground station with a platform, unlike the Red Line's many underground stations that are blasted out of the rock. The permanent art consists of Rolf Bergström's work "Flora" from 1999, a photomontage of exotic plants. The station serves the residential area Vårby gård in Huddinge municipality, characterized by the million program buildings built in 1970–1974 near Lake Mälaren.
