About the station and area

Axelsberg is located on the southern branch of the red line in the district of Axelsberg in Hägersten, south of Stockholm's inner city. Unlike the subway's blasted rock room, this is a ground station with the platform in an open shaft, inaugurated on May 16, 1965 as part of the stretch to Sätra. The station's artistic decoration consists of the station name shaped as meter-high letters in, among other things, glass, concrete, sand and iron, executed in 1983 by Leif Bolter, Veine Johansson, Inga Modén and Gösta Wessel, where the X is formed by two crossing tracks.
