About the station and area
Örnsberg opened on 5 April 1964 and operated until 16 May 1965 as the southern terminus of the first stage of the red line. The station has an outdoor platform at ground level, i.e. above ground and not an exploded mountain station, and is one of the few stations in the subway network that lacks official artistic decoration. The name refers to the area of Örnsberg, which includes the western part of the district Aspudden and the eastern part of the district Hägersten.
