About the station and area
The Mälarhöjden subway station was inaugurated on 16 May 1965 and is located in a rock tunnel, with the platform 10–34 meters below the ground. Margareta Carlstedt's enamel painting "Ebb and flow" from 1965, a 190 meter long work, runs along the track hall. Above ground, the station serves the residential area of Mälarhöjden, which has developed since the early 20th century by Lake Mälaren, where Mälarhöjden's church from 1929 rises on the height above the station.
