About the station and area
Karlaplan opened on 2 September 1967, when the red line banger towards Ropsten was extended from Östermalmstorg. The station is exploded in a rock room about 23 meters below the ground, directly under the Fältörsten quarter, and is one of the deepest located in the entire subway network. Among the platform's art are Tor Hörlin's glazed stoneware decorations around the seats from the opening year 1967 and Larseric Vänerlöf's approximately 96 meter long photomontage from 1983, renovated and reinstalled in 2009. The station is located in the Östermalm district by Karlaplan.
