About the station and area
Tallkrogen opened on 1 October 1950 as part of the subway's first section between Slussen and Hökarängen, and the station was designed by architect Peter Celsing. Unlike the inner city's blasted rock space, the platform is above ground and serves the garden town of Tallkrogen in Söderort. Above the stairs from the ticket hall, the station has been decorated since 1998 by Kristina Anshelm's Tallkrogsdraken, a fantasy animal that took its shape from the district's unusual urban plan – the so-called Olympic area, whose streets are laid out like running tracks around an arena.
